The Chango as the National Bird

 Hi folks!

In this last few days I have been experimenting and trying to learn the basics of Bitsy: a little editor for little games or worlds.

The Chango as the National Bird (or El chango como pájaro nacional in Spanish) is an essay written by Magali García Ramis; Writer, journalist and professor of journalism, she was born in 1946 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Puerto Rico (1968) and a master's degree in Journalism Sciences from Columbia University, N.Y. (1969). She subsequently pursued doctoral studies at the Autonomous University of Mexico and at the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

El chango como pájaro nacional is one of my favorite essay as it proposes in a very interesting and funny way the Chango (Mozambique, Machambo, Quiscalusnigerbrachypterus, Greater Antillean grackle) as the best candidate for the national bird of my country, Puerto Rico.

So, I designed using Bitsy a little "game"/"visual novel" that you as a Chango "fly thru the playas (beaches) of Puerto Rico as a Chango, learning why the Chango should be the Puerto Rican National Bird".

Shiko no Kaiju: Monster Supreme

Recently we participated in another game jam, Kaiju Jam.

As the jam name suggest, the theme was kaijus = giant monsters alá Godzilla.

Our submission was a card game that uses playing cards and poker hands as its main mechanic.

Chrome//Knuckles: A Beat em' Up Cyberpunk RPG

 

Chrome//Knuckles is my submission for the One Page RPG Jam 2021.

As the title suggests, Chrome//Knuckles is a Cyberpunk themed RPG set "in a imminent future". The evil mega corp Yashinoki, rigged the elections for mayor of "the once prosperous Reef City". The city is now in chaos, commanded by the iron fist of Akuma Salinas. "Misery, hunger and crime reign" in Reef City. 

Who will overthrow the powerful Akuma Salinas?

This last month I been participating of some game jams at itch.io, so here I will post the last two of them.

The 1st one is a zine, but not a game or RPG zine. This one is a personal writing about my experience as a table top game developer done for the Zine Jam: Hobbies Edition!. If you want to check it out go here.

Atomic-Powered Mutant Grrls

 

Hi folks, Hiram here! 

It been a long time, but at least I have something for y'all. In this last two weeks I worked in conjunction with my girlfriend (Stephanie Feliciano) a magical girls RPG for the Magical Girls Game Jam #3. 

As in the title of this post we called, the RPG Atomic-Powered Mutant Grrls. AMG (for short) is simple RPG that in it's intro tells you a little background story of how the grrls were conceived, so you have a start for you to continue. 

The illustrations for the book were beautifully made by María Feliciano.

Great news... I guess.

Well... I know that its been a while since I posted updates of my develops in games, but I guess is that I'm not having good ideas. I've been working on some other things like graphic design for my redbubble page and trying to write again. Since that last post on Octuber some things changed, for example I moved alone with my girlfriend. I was hoping that a change of place would give me some new spark, but in other hand I'm feeling without creativity in the board game related stuff. Now that I told you all that... the GREAT NEWS! In the last 2 week I started working on something RPG related. Hope I can give you a sneak peek soon, but for now it looks like it's going to be an RPG System.

Well folks... that's what been happening lately. If something else pops, I'll let you know.

Proto-Meet-Up

Hello fellas! Today I'm excited because we've been invited to a play-testing reunion and today is the day! I'm been working on a project with one of my collabs and friend Xavier Martinez. The project will be called "Have You Seen My Goats?": a card game with a take that and some resource management mech with a very fun and cool theme. Here's the back of the cards so you can get an idea!

Howdy peeps, Hiram here! It looks like this year is gonna be a good one in the game developing area. I still working on the expansion for Stumbling Undead RPG and now I'm developing with my girlfriend another RPG that it's going to be called The World is Dark (WiD for short). WiD is going to have creature setting using World of Darkness by White Wolf as an inspiration. Hope I will have good news for the last week of June or for first week of July! Hi again, Hiram here!
I been doing to many things all this time since the last entry and to many things happen since the last entry. I don't remember if I told you that I'm from Puerto Rico and last year we had a visit from something that we wasn't prepared to. Yeah, I'm talking about hurricane Maria. Thanks to God and the Cosmos my family and I are doing good, but this experience took a lot from me (even the game developing aspect). Scratching that out! I'm working again on games and RPGs. This year I published the my first take in RPG format of the Stumbling Undead Universe using LARA System by Experimental Playground

New things!

Hi again! Hiram is here with news for all of you. Yesterday I was thinking on a mechanic for a card game with a base set of 52 cards and as you can imagine I'm using a playing cards deck. So today I been working on the mechanic for the game and polishing it so I can soon give you the rules and you all can test it. So that's what is been happening lately in the labs of Cilindro Cubico. Hi to you all! Here's some updates...
We're working in some project that we hope they see the light some time soon. Meanwhile yesterday I, Hiram started a new card game! I'm just working on the mechanics and trying put all ideas together, but that's how creativity works. So stay tuned cause soon there be more games and also a comic!

Finally our 1st entry... woohoo!

Well... hi people! as you can see this is our first blog entry. We Cilindro Cubico are a indie comics, board and card game company located at Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Right now we are developing many games and some comics, hoping that soon they will be available to all of you to read and play. Has a token of gratitude for those of you who stop by, we will share one of our first projects for the Print and Play community, Viernes 13: Jason en San Juan (Friday The 13th: Jason in San Juan) Board game. This board game is a fan made tribute mostly to Viernes 13, a song made by urban songwriter and singer Vico-C and Friday The 13th franchise. Hope you enjoy playing and for those of you that know about the song, hope through this game can remember and have fun playing and singing the song.
